I was shown to my coconut leaf covered home and was surprised to find electricity! This has been a fairly new upgrade to the village (the school had just gotten in a year ago).
Mama Gertrude fed us chicken stew for dinner which was wonderful and for breakfast she had prepared the breakfast table with freshness from their farm: bananas, advocados, boiled sweet potatoes (white, though), and mandazi (the Kenya equivilant of a doughnut hole without the sugar).
