Today as I was leaving school in a tired hurry to get to the track meet my phone buzzed and via FB messenger I received the most special message from Ronnie in Kenya. He and Serah had made it home safely from their trip to the US and he had made it to see his mother, Mama Gertrude in Wongonyi Village.
When Serah and Ronnie were visiting the US they came to visit our school and I had given Ronnie a photo of his mother I had taken when I had visited her in the village. Ronnie then took a photo of the moment he gave it to his mother back in Kenya and sent me a message of thanks from her. He also relayed the message that she loves me and prays for me and my family. It was like getting a hug from the other side of the world... a big warm strong one! It is these interactions that fill my heart with so much gratefulness and love. Connection truly makes this world better.
